Christmas Eve 2009

A white Christmas Eve! We headed to my aunt's house 45 miles away in the snow and by the time we left, it was in full fledged "Texas Blizzard" mode. Regardless, we had a great time and despite the 2 hours of anxiety filled driving that it took us to get home, the day was a good one.

I was testing out my new camera that I got for Christmas so just snapped a few shots. It's not a great one, but the subject sure is cute! lol

My aunt and D playing around

Look at the snow! This was before it got REALLY bad tho.

I LOVE this pic that I got of D, but I had it edited as the background is pretty distracting.

The family that was there.

Once we got home, I let D goof in the snow a bit. This is him going "MOMMY!! It's cold and wet!!" You can SO tell he's a texas boy.

But he had fun!

Once D was in bed, I set up the presents and our stockings.

Christmas gifts

In thinkin about what to make for D's teachers for Christmas, I came across this blog post:

http://bluecricketdesign.blogspot.com/2009/12/christmas-pop-top-cans.html

And knew that was what I wanted to do. So here is the making of the first one. I have 4 more to go and will post a pic of all 5 when done.

Start with soup cans with a poptop. Then using a can opener, open the BOTTOM of them. Empty and wash them well.

I filled this one with Hersheys Kisses and a giftcard, and then hot glued the bottom back on. After I flipped it back over, I used scrapbook paper to wrap around it and hot glue into place. I also added two pieces of ribbon because I don't exactly cut the straightest and the edges of my scrapbook paper were a bit crooked. I'm all about honesty here.

Then I used the rest of that piece of scrapbook paper to make a tag with D's santa picture and threaded some ribbon through the pop top.

And of course gotta let em know what to do.

I love these!!!

National Candy Day aka Halloween 2009

I don't usually do Hween with D. In the past, he has not been allowed to dress up, even though we did usually do a fall festival. This year, as an extension of Red Ribbon week at school, I let him dress up. We also ended up going to the Firewheel Fall Festival this evening. As part of that, the stores at the mall did TorTing, so I compromised on my usual feelings and let D partake in the goodies. I'm not sure if we'll ever do "true" TorTing, but it was fun.

Here's the little pirate boy.

"Yo ho ho and a bottle of...milk!"
