Poems

WOW, I was cleaning out My Documents and I found some poems I had written FOREVER ago...I don't think I want to post them, they sound kinda cheesy to me now...lol However in the spirit of poetry, I want to post this adoption poem that really inspires me. I didn't write it and I'm not sure who did, but if anyone knows who wrote it, please let me know and I will credit them.

Adoption Poem

If there was ever a question about angels here on earth
It was surely answered on the day of your birth
For so long I prayed that God would send you my way
I waited and wondered if I would ever see the day
What a precious little boy God did create
Oh my dear child you were worth the wait
You were delivered by an angel
so you can keep her in your heart
She gave you hope and a chance,
and here is where I start.
I'll provide you with a family, a home,
and unconditional love without end.
You are an answer to my prayers, baby. AMEN.

Now if THAT doesn't get you all choked up, NOTHING will!

Twas a good weekend

So...D and I had a good weekend. I'm still broke as hell, but we did all cheap stuff so it rocked.
I wish I had pictures from all this, but I don't...if I get some, I'll post em...here was our weekend...

Friday after I picked up D from school, we went to Cicis for dinner ($6 for BOTH of us to eat, gotta love that! PLUS D really likes their spinach alfredo pizza...its good for him! lol) then we headed to my friend's oldest sons soccer game. We got there early so let the boys play on the playground near by. I told my friend, its so nice now to let D play and not have to be up every second to usher him back from running off. He's gotten SO mature! Yeah, he has his days (minutes, hours) of pushing boundaries but he's gotten SO much better!
Jalen played a good game, he's 10 so those boys are a lot better on the field than the 4 year olds we saw on Saturday when we went to Jai's game.
It was a fun game, we had to walk forever since they switched fields at the last minute, but I needed the exercise after Cicis...lol And D was in his stroller so he didn't get over tired.
On Saturday, I slept wayyyyyy in. D has been very well trained to come in my room in the morning and shut the door so he can't get out. Then he has toys in there or he can lay on a pillow on the floor or come cuddle in bed with me, his choice, and he'll rotate out while I catch a little more sleep.
At 1, we went to Jai's game. I'm just astounded at the cuteness! lol A teacher from D's school came to watch the game and D LOVED that. She was there to see Jai, but D knows her too so he had to get his time in! He did ok, not in his stroller, so I had to put him on lock down a few times, but overall he did fine.
After the game we headed home and took niceeeee naps, then played until church Saturday evening.
Sunday, we went to my grandmas for lunch and D played his little heart out outside until we left at 4 to go to a bday party for a little man named Jacob, who turns 5 tomorrow! What a big boy!!! It was a fun surprise party, the kids played with little water guns, D had the pinky out tryin to squirt his, it was hilarious! Then we ate hot dogs and chips and finally CUPCAKES. Yup, D was a MESS, but he had a BLAST! Jacob got lots of neat Spiderman stuff!

Back to work today...blah...it was actually a good day although I was tiredddddd...

Like I said, if I see any of the pics that were taken, I'll put em up here...otherwise, too bad!

Pics from the Adoption

Ok yes I was seriously remiss in not putting these up earlier! I'm trying here!!!

A little blurb...the adoption was on February 23rd, 2007. We were there at 8am...the judge didn't show til after 9! But it alllllll worked out. Then that night, we had a party at the Wiggly Play Center in Frisco. A couple that I went through adoption training was there with their two kiddos who are now adopted too! My best friend Stacy and her two boys were there, as well as D's teacher and her two kiddos, and then my friends Keisha and Kristen. D was soooooo tired! lol

SI Dysfunction and other thoughts

Well, D was supposed to get his weighted vest this week, but apparently it was too big, so his OT had to send it back and order an XS. I'm really hoping this will help him focus a bit more when sitting at the table needing to concentrate. With his Sensory Integration Dysfunction, he really craves pressure. He always has to be seat belted in somewhere, he just feels so much more secure that way. Shopping carts, his carseat, his stroller. They help him feel secure. Thats also why part of getting his attention involves getting him in front of you, pressing down on his shoulders, and THEN talking to him, it really helps. Thats also why spanking him will never work. lol Because the pressure of it is something he wants rather than something that will get
attention. Plus I think he has a pretty high pain tolerance and might not necessarily feel it (and the boy has a booty on him...lol)

Things have been going good here. On Saturday we went out to visit my friend Jalissa, who had surgery on her ankle. D was a hot MESS the whole time, he just couldn't leave certain things alone. Typical 2 year old behavior. I did have to take him in the bathroom at one point to
let him know I was serious. (No, that doesn't mean that I spanked him, although by that time I sure wanted to!)

Then we went to Jai's soccer game. 4 year olds running around the field is HILARIOUS! Jai even scored a goal! Too bad it was for the other team...but still, it counts! It sure was cold though!! I had to beg Stacy for a blanket from her car...lol

After that, we went home for naps (both me AND D), then headed to church. I think Pastor G could sense something in the crowd, he had an altar call BEFORE he preached...I was like OK GOD, I get the hint, I'm going, I'm going!

I've been so lonely lately. Its hard to be on lockdown with a sleeping child after 7pm every night. Not able to go anywhere or do anything. Before I got D, my passion was taking long drives with the windows down and music blaring at night. Those always relaxed me and might be one of
the few things I miss from being truly single. I felt so close to God during my drives. As if it was just me and Him in the world. I still feel close to Him, don't get me wrong, it just takes a lot more effort on my part. But if thats one of my very FEW regrets, then I think I'm doing pretty good.

Thats about it for now...holla...

Our Easter Weekend at the Lake!

We spent our weekend down at Jacksonville Lake in East Texas. My grandparents have a lake house there, right on the lake. Crazy thing is, Saturday, it SNOWED all day!!!
